Badavilinga Templ, Hampi
Badavilinga Temple is known for housing the largest monolithic Shiva Linga in Hampi. Located next to the Lakshmi Narasimha statue, the temple was built during the Vijayanagara Empire and is named after a poor peasant woman who is said to have commissioned it (badva means "poor" in the local tongue).
The monolithic Shiva Linga is carved from black stone and is about 3 meters tall.
It has three eyes carved on it, which represent the three eyes of Lord Shiva.
The sanctum is built in such a way that it is always filled with water from an ancient canal
