Sri Bhuvaraha Swamy Temple, Srimushnam, TN
Bhu Varaha Swamy temple is in a village called Srimushnam near Chidambaram Tamil Nadu. This temple is known for its outstanding sculptures! The temple is dedicated to Varaha. The boar – avatar of Vishnu.
Initially built by Medieval Cholas and subsequently expanded by Thanjavur Nayak Dynasty this has some masterpieces!
As we enter the temple there is a sixteen pillared Mandapam (Hall) built by Achutappa Nayak. Each pillar is a monolith and sculpted with sculptures of Yali, musicians, dancers, miniature idols and Gods.
