Gangaikonda Cholapuram
The temple at GangaikondaCholapuram is also called Brihadisvara Temple. This temple is dedicated to Shiva and it was built by Rajendra Chola I in the year 1035 CE.
This is a protected monument and it is in GangaikondaCholapuram, Tamil Nadu. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Great Living Chola Temples" along with another two temples built by Chola dynasty. One is is in Dharasuram and the other is in Tanjore. The Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple is smaller yet more refined than the Thanjavur Temple. Both are among the largest temples in South India and examples of Dravidian style temples.
