Grāma Devathas Part-1
Grāma Devathas are village guardian goddesses of South India. They protect the village from diseases and misfortunes. Each village usually has its own unique deity. Most Grāma Devathas are forms of Shakti. Their shrines are often simple and open-air.
Villagers worship them for health, rains, and prosperity.
Festivals include firewalking and traditional offerings. Worship practices differ from village to village. These traditions preserve ancient folk culture. Grāma Devathas remain central to rural spiritual life.
