Kumortuli is a place where God makers of Kolkatta reside and make idols of Maa Durga. They say it is here that Maa Durga Comes to Life! This is the sculpting hot spot of the city. When one walks through the small lanes of Kumortuli. one can see idols for Durga Pooja being made in evry house which is also their work spot. The splash of color is bound to overwhelm everyone here.
Here painting of the eye for all these idols is considered so sacred that it is done last and done only on Saptami day and this ritual is called as 'Chakku Daan'
