Moovar Koil
Moovar Koil, also known as the Three Temples of Kodumbalur, is a group of early Chola-period temples located near Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu. They were built in the 9th century by the Irukkuvel chieftains, who were allied with the Cholas. Each of the three temples is dedicated to Shiva and shows the early development of Dravidian temple architecture. Only two of the original three vimanas survive today, but they still display beautifully proportioned towers and refined stone carvings. Moovar Koil is an important monument for understanding the evolution of South Indian temple design.
