Sangameswara Temple, Alampur
The Kudala Sangameswara Temple in Alampur, Telangana, is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to God Shiva. Originally built in 740 AD by the Chalukya ruler Pulakesi II, it was later relocated to its present site in 1979 to protect it from being submerged by the Srisailam Dam project.
It was located for nearly 1,300 years in Kudavalli village, named after the sangam (confluence) of Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers and it also gave the deity the name Sangameshwara
During the construction of the Srisailam Dam in the 1970s, the temple was carefully dismantled and reconstructed, stone by stone, at its current location in Alampur.
The temple is a notable example of the Chalukyan architectural style, featuring an elevated platform and fortified walls. Its carvings depict legends from Hindu epics and Puranas
