Sarangapani Swamy Temple, Kumbakonam
The Sarangapani Swamy Temple in Kumbakonam is an elaborate Hindu temple dedicated to God Vishnu.
The main deity here is Sarangapani, an incarnation of Vishnu.
The temple complex is known for its intricate carvings, ornate sculptures, and a towering 11-tiered Rajagopuram that stands 173 feet tall. The central shrine is crafted in the shape of a chariot.
While it existed during the Pallava period, the current structure is primarily attributed to the Chola king Vikrama Chola in the 12th century, with renovations continuing into the Nayaka period.
