Spanish Mosque, Hyderabad
The Spanish Mosque in Hyderabad, also known as Masjid Iqbal Ud Daula, is located at Begumpet and was built in 1906 by Nawab Iqbal Ud Daula of the Paigah family. Its architecture is inspired by the Moorish style of Spain, especially resembling the Great Mosque of Córdoba, which is why it is popularly called the Spanish Mosque. The mosque is notable for its elegant white façade, horseshoe-shaped arches, and symmetrical twin minarets. Unlike most mosques, it does not have traditional domes, giving it a distinct European–Islamic fusion look. Although not always open to the general public, it remains one of Hyderabad’s most unique and beautiful heritage structures.
