Sundara Varadaraja Perumal Temple, Uthiramerur
The Sundara Varadaraja Perumal Temple in Uthiramerur is a unique temple where Lord Vishnu can be worshipped in his three postures (standing, sitting, and reclining) within a single, three-tiered structure. Located in the Kanchipuram district, the temple was originally built by the Pallava kings around 750 CE, with later additions by the Cholas and Vijayanagara rulers.
The temple's primary shrine is unique for having three levels, each housing Lord Vishnu in a different posture.
On the ground floor Sundara Varadaraja Perumal is in a standing posture with Sridevi and Bhoodevi.
On the first-floor visitors can climb a narrow staircase to the next level, where Vaikunta Varadar is seen in a seated posture.
