Bidar in Karnataka state of India has many places of architectural, historical and religious importance. Most prominent of them is them are tombs of the rulers of the Bahamani and Barid Shahi dynasties. According to Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) there are around 61 protected monuments in Bidar of which 30 are tombs located in and around Bidar town.
The prominent tombs are the Chaukhandi of Hazrat Khalil-Ullah Shah and the tomb of Sultan Ahmed Shah Al Wali Bahamani, among others, from the Bahamani dynasty. The Bahamani tombs are located at Ashtoor village, 4 km from Bidar town. The tomb of Sultan Humayun, which was split open after being struck by lightning, is located along with other smaller tombs.
Among the Baridi Shahi rulers, the tombs of Ali Barid and Ibrahim Barid are the important ones. The Chaukhandi is the tomb of Hazrat Khalil-Ullah, who was the religious preceptor of Ahmad Shah.
