Uthra Ranganathar Swamy Temple
The main temple at Pallikonda village is the ancient Uthra Ranganathar Swamy Temple. It is an important site for Vaishnavites and it is situated on the banks of the Palar River.
The temple is dedicated to God Vishnu, who is worshipped here as Uthra Ranganathar in a reclining posture (known as Anantashayana). The temple's history is over a thousand years old, with renovations by various kings over the centuries.
According to one legend, God Vishnu reclined here on the multi-headed serpent god, Adisesha, to calm the river goddess Saraswathi, who was flooding the area.
When I visited this temple it was under renovation and hence could only take few pictures!
